Egypt’s tourism rates increased by 36% in October 2023

Egypt’s tourism rates have increased by more than 36% in October 2023, demonstrating growth that is eight times higher than the global tourism rate of 4.5% during the same period, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Around 1.3 million tourists from 80 different countries visited Egypt in October 2023, making an 8% increase compared to October 2022.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, received Friday 10/11/2023 an award from the British “Lonely Planet” magazine, considering Egypt the best tourist destination for 2023.

The award was received during the ministry’s participation in the 44th World Travel Market London (WTM2023).

British Airways resumes flights to Sharm El Sheikh

After a prolonged hiatus, Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport welcomed the return of British Airways flights.

According to the airport authorities, the new seasonal route to the airport will accommodate four flights per week by British Airways in the near future.

EgyptAir expands Asia-Pacific network with new route to Shanghai

EgyptAir is set to expand its Asia-Pacific network by introducing a new route to Shanghai, China.

Beginning on November 16th, the airline started operating three weekly flights connecting Cairo International Airport (CAI) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG).

The outbound flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with return flights the following day.

EgyptAir plans to utilize Boeing 777-300 aircraft for the 5,198 mile route.

With the addition of Shanghai, EgyptAir now serves four Chinese cities, including Beijing, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou. By December, the airline’s Asia-Pacific network will further expand to include Dhaka (Bangladesh), Jakarta (Indonesia), Mumbai, New Delhi (India), and Tokyo Narita (Japan), bringing the total number of destinations in the region to nine.

Sphinx International Airport receives first EasyJet flights coming from London

Sphinx International Airport received the first EasyJet flights coming from the British capital, London, from Gatwick Airport, carrying 148 passengers.

WizzAir launches first flight from Abu Dhabi’s new terminal to Egypt

National low-cost UAE airline Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has commenced operations at Abu Dhabi International’s new Terminal A, one of the first carriers to take advantage of the state-of-the-art facility. Their first trip was a direct flight to Cairo’s Sphinx International Airport.

Flights between Abu Dhabi and Cairo will operate on Mondays.

WizzAir currently flies to more than 39 destinations in 27 different countries, and aims to expand their operations to include new destinations in 2024.

Hilton announces debut in Cairo’s New Administrative Capital

Hilton (NYSE: HLT announced the signing of Hilton Cairo New Capital Tower, in partnership with Amazon for Urban Development. The new-build property is currently under construction and will occupy the top floors of the iconic, mixed-use tower sitting in the heart of Egypt’s highly anticipated New Administrative Capital (NAC).

Located in the heart of the NAC’s masterplan, Hilton Cairo New Capital Tower is ideally located in the Central Business District, surrounded by both government and private offices, the Diplomatic Quarter, as well as several key residential areas within NAC. The property is in close proximity to the recently inaugurated Capital International Airport and will have convenient access to the transportation network connecting NAC to other parts of Cairo, including the Mono-Rail and Cairo Light Rail lines.

Hilton Cairo New Capital Tower will house 120 units, including 72 guest rooms and 48 one-bedroom suites, four food and beverage outlets, a pool and a fully equipped fitness centre.

Hilton plans to double its portfolio across Egypt – the company currently has 14 trading hotels in the country with another 16 in the pipeline. Of the trading properties, six are located in Cairo, with another seven under development, including the recently opened Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis and the soon to open Hilton Cairo Nile Maadi.
